Hemp Farms Australia (HFA) was honoured to participate in the inaugural Hemp Connect Forum, held from 25–27 June 2025 at La Trobe University’s AgriBio Centre in Melbourne. This landmark event, organised by the Australian Hemp Council in collaboration with La Trobe University, brought together leaders from agriculture, construction, and sustainability to explore hemp-based building solutions that are cost-effective, carbon-negative, and ready to scale.

Championing Hemp in Modern Construction

The forum highlighted industrial hemp’s potential as a renewable, fire-resistant, and carbon-sequestering material that can help address the urgent demand for affordable, sustainable housing. Discussions focused on innovations in hempcrete, composite panels, and insulation materials with the potential to transform the built environment.

HFA’s involvement underscored our commitment to advancing hemp as a cornerstone of sustainable construction. We engaged with architects, builders, and policymakers to discuss the integration of hemp-based materials into mainstream building practices, emphasising the environmental and economic benefits.

Collaborating for a Greener Future

A highlight of the forum was the “Real Businesses. Real Materials. Real Impact!” segment, where progressive hemp businesses showcased their hemp building products, market potential, and capabilities to transform construction into a hub of sustainability. Featured participants included Murray Industrial Hemp, Otetto, Zeoform, and Ciircl, representing the forefront of a growing movement to decarbonise the built environment using regenerative hemp-based technologies.

These collaborations align with HFA’s vision to transform Australia’s approach to environmental remediation. By integrating hemp into construction, we aim to contribute to ecosystem health, enhance agricultural productivity, and support Australia’s environmental sustainability goals.

Looking Ahead

The Hemp Connect Forum reinforced the growing recognition of hemp’s role in sustainable construction. HFA remains dedicated to leading this transformation, working alongside industry partners and government bodies to promote hemp-based solutions. We extend our gratitude to the Australian Hemp Council and La Trobe University for hosting this pivotal event. As we continue to explore and expand the potential of industrial hemp, we invite stakeholders to join us in building a cleaner, greener future.
